The vote by members of the Communist Party was not in favour of the proposed text for a common base that was put forward by the National Council. I acknowledge these results and respect the choice made by Communists. The vote showed that opinion is very split on the subject.
We have a new common base for our discussions, and today there is no majority opinion to lead us forward. Therefore we need to engage a broad debate on our choices and we have a huge challenge to meet in order to achieve a common construction, unity, and the assembly of Communists up to and through the Congress.
The weeks ahead call for the united efforts of one and all. I will devote all of my energy to the task.
